Our Goal: To find a problem important to today's situations and solve it.
We felt that since there are a lot of problems with today's technology, ethics and politics there were a ton of things that we could solve. However, I was working with PC gamers, and I was a Mac gamer myself, so at first we wanted to do something silly and slightly unimportant: fixing video game lag. Then we started talking about a video game called Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth. The game is about colonizing a faraway planet and making it habitable for humans while fighting off aliens and rival colonies. That got us thinking about Mars, and then we decided to switch it to something much bigger: SPACE COLONIZATION (which later became Mars Colonization).
Let's face it. Our good protecter Earth will die someday. A meteor might hit it, a volcano or tsunami might wipe out major parts of the Earth, or something else could happen. Also, let's be serious, we haven't really been taking good care of Earth. And we will eventually overcrowd Earth. So this is a situation that really needs to be resolved.
We decided that the best way was to make a sort of dome that had practically a city in it. The dome would be stone or some sort of durable material on the bottom for fortifying the dome, and the top would be glass so we could take advantage of solar power. Inside the dome would have two floors, the top one being housing, commercial, and greenhouses and the lower one being for mining bases and administration offices. With these domes, we would be able to harvest some resources from Mars, such as rocks, CO2, geothermal energy and solar energy, among some other things. With the design we had in mind, we would be able to live a pleasant life in Mars.
A full Prezi document of our plan is below.

Pits & Peaks
There were a few things I learned. One specific one was how to use and embed Prezi (as you can clearly see above this text). Originally I was not used to using Prezi, but after working with someone else that was used to Prezi, I understand it a little better. I also realized how serious it was to clean up my Mac from unused files. We were trying to make the dome with CAD software (Autodesk Maya, specifically) and when we tried to insert a texture, the screen completely freaked out and crashed because it didn't have enough RAM to work with. I was actually a little scared that I would be unable to use it afterwards, but it turned out okay. We still made a dome with Maya, however we had to start over from scratch since the files were deleted when my laptop crashed. Also, we (somewhat obviously) had to use a different computer.
I also thought that there were some things I should work on as a team. Such as not just staying on task, but making sure that other members are staying on task as well. Some of us were playing on our phones while others were working on our research, and I feel like that could have been fixed. We also might want to learn to use our time better. Just because we know we will have time to do it later doesn't mean we should put it off until then.

Next step?
Now the next step is to propose to NASA about this. It would costs billions of dollars to get this set up, but with some funding and the help of other countries (everyone on earth benefits from it, after all) we would be able to do this. A research group has already attempted to launch supplies into space and is trying to get an expedition to Mars set up. So clearly people are already working on this.
