Problems exist in the world. It is very likely that you will find a problem with something at least once every day. So why not do something about it?
Many problems that exist in the world can be solved by using various different methods, including biology and biotechnology. We decided to try and find a solution to the economic problem in Africa by opening up a new industry for it, specifically the Ivory Coast. We thought that we could help the biology sector of the economy there by combining it with its largest industry: cocoa beans. By taking the gene of various flavors like vanilla or strawberry and implanting it into a cocoa plant, we could supposedly grow cocoa beans that already taste of a certain plant and this new industry would grow.
We came up with three different tests to see if our idea would work, and we also sent an email to a person skilled in this kind of science to see if our idea would work. Unfortunately, we didn't get a response, but here are the efficacy tests we would have used.
I think we did well at this project. I think two things we could have done better are research (we could have looked into the economy a little better) and staying on task a little better, but I was happy with group collaboration and our ideas that we all shared.
